At the time of this project, YouTube Music’s visual world was inconsistent across all media and
platforms. Compared to their competitors such as Spotify and Apple Music, which
have strong visual identities, the brand did not stand out as having a distinct look and
feel. The visual world was created through heroing YouTube’s most ownable and recognisable assets and drawing inspiration from the visual voice of music culture
such as zine magazines. Using the iconic YouTube paired back colour pallette of red,
white and black alongside assets such as the play button, the loading bar and the logo
itself, creates a dynamnic world which is both enitrely Youtube and sets it apart from
other platforms.
